The University of Milan in Italian sounds like Università degli Studi di Milano. It is one f the biggest universities in Italy. This educational establishment also belongs to League of European Research Universities. The University of Milan was founded in 1923 when the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the Milan Accademia and the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the Milan Accademia joined into one educational establishment.
This university is characterized by rather wide range of educational programs. All educational programs are connected to one of the four following areas: the healthcare area, the area of humanities, the area of science and scientific technology, and the legal, political, social, and economic area. At the university, there are nine faculties, which offer 134 first and second level degree programs. In spite of the fact that this university is state-sponsored, it has complete autonomy in 1989. The head of the University is the Rector or Rettore, the process of administration is carried out by two collegial bodies – the Academic Senate or Senato Accademico and the Board of Directors or Consiglio di Amministrazione.
